Lately a lot of the blogs I read are starting to become "private." This is something I have been going back and forth with for months now. I read somewhere on a friends blog about how you can see where people are viewing your blog from....which is all over the world. We looked up our stats a few months ago and the number of "viewers" from overseas was a little unsettling with Gabe and I, mainly because of our kids. You never know what crazy person could stumble across your blog.
I realize I may loose a few readers, which I sincerely hope I don't, but this is something I am seriously considering. It just takes one extra step to login and I hope we are worth that extra step. I have also seen some people create a separate group of private blogs so you don't forget about us.
Does anyone have any positive/negative thoughts on making your blog private? I'm debating....

I've been debating, too. I'd love to see the feedback you get about it...
You definitely go down in comments and readers, but for me, that didn't matter. I write for my family and as a way to keep memories and milestones on record.
When I would put up a new post I would have like between 4 and 500 views in a day on a normal basis, and I don't know that many people by a long shot!
But what really did it was when I put the post up about Arden's room. I was like, "Oh my gosh, now hundreds of people I don't know, know what her room looks like, where her window is, etc." It kinda freaked me out. I don't want to have to worry about every little thing I say and what is in the background of all my pics.
Good luck, if you go private I will keep up with you!
I'm fine with private blogs. I just have a group on my sidebar for them. The main reason I keep mine is so I can make a blog book. Let me know if you do & I'll give you my email.
