First Flight

We are leaving for California on Thursday and taking Brody-man! Any tips for flying with a 4 month old??? I am a little nervous and hoping he does well. We are excited about the trip. There will be lots of firsts for Brody and we are definitely looking forward to it!

If you can have him suck on a bottle or passy when you are taking off and getting ready to land!!! Also fun "NEW" toys he has not seen yet!!! Just a few things that worked great with us!!!
Good luck...

Hey Lindsey...I don't know if you remember me, but I am one of Devon's HS friends, Heather. I love looking at other's blogs, and I do check yours out from time to time. Anyways, I flew with my son for the first time when he was about that same age. Couple of suggestions: Wearing him in a baby carrier is easier than trying to get the stroller through security. Don't put shoes on him, they will make you take them off. Check with your airline to see if they provide bags for the carseat (p.s. it's free to check the carseat). Bring paci, extra clothes, blanket more than enough diapers and food (I think you're breastfeeding, so you are set, maybe pack a hooter-hider). They say to try and feed babies on the way up and on the way down. I feed Brooks on the way up, and then he just slept, so there was no way I was waking him up to feed him...he seemed to do fine. They also say that keeping them upright helps their ears not to get plugged. WOW - that's a lot of stuff...hope it helps. Can't wait to see pictures, Brody is a complete cutie!

Have fun Lindsay! My advice is the flights almost always go better than you think they will! :)

We first flew with Collin at 4 months old and he did GREAT! MUCH better than he does now at 19 months. We loved bringing our stroller because it is so easy to get through security and pile extra bags and things on it. Plus it is free to check it at the plane.

Also, if Brody takes apaci, bring that to help with his ears for take-off and landing.

At this age, he'll probably sleep most of the flight, so I don't think you need many toys and things. But you can bring simple things like some straws for him to chew/suck on and hold. They're light and easy to pack.

Good luck sweetie! Have fun making memories!

We just flew with Jacob last weekend for his first flight! I actually wrote a post this morning about a few things with the flight that happened!

Feed him when taking off/landing. Or, a paci works well. We didn't let Jacob nap as much the day of the flight so he would be sleepy on the plane. We also gave him a little bit of baby Tylenol about 30 minutes before we took off in case his ears popped. He was so perfect!

Other than that, make sure you get there about an hr and a half before your flight. It took us FOREVER to get through security with all of our things. Even the stroller had to go through on the conveyor belt. We didn't use our stroller on the trip but it was so helpful to have it while in the airport with the carseat and all our bags. We also brought our baby carrier you strap on yoruself so that you can have free hands for everything.

If you have any other questions just let me know! Have a blast and take pictures to remember the special occasion!
