4 WEEKS! WoW!

I am blown away that four weeks ago our incredible angel entered this world.  Baby Brody is a very pleasant, easy going little guy....we are so lucky!  He is starting to amaze us with his talents!  His legs are so strong.  He has been able to hold his head up from the second day, not for very long and it is wobbly but if he is laying on your chest he will lift his head up and look around.  He is getting better and can do it for longer periods of time now.  He grabs fingers and my long hair very well.  We believe he will be rolling over any time!  He is really working on it. Can you believe it at 4 weeks?  He loves to stare at people's faces too.  I am becoming THAT mom who brags all the time.  Here is my precious baby's Easter picture.
We had a great first Easter as a family of 3.  We went to church and lunch with Gabe's family. To the movie with friends.  And dinner with my family.  A busy family-filled day.  Hope everyone had a great day too.

I am really looking forward to my friend Kelly's visit up here and to the Sip and See this weekend.  Knowing I have a great weekend ahead is helping me get through the tiring and stressful work week.  I am stunned that next week is the beginning of the last six-weeks of the school year.  It is really hard to get up in the mornings and go to work now that I am a mommy. It is a million times easier knowing Brody is in the best hands with my mom and Ron watching him, but it is still extremely difficult and tough to leave the little guy each morning.  It is MUCH harder than I thought it would be.  There is a light at the end of the tunnel and it is quickly approaching.  I am thrilled for my summer off and cannot wait to spend all of my time with my son.

Love to you all!

Newborn Photos

We had Brody's pictures taken today by a Cherie (she is a friend from HS who started her own photography business.  Her photos are pretty much AMAZING!  Please check out her website Cherie Marie Photography).  Brody was a little bit fussy and awake the whole shoot, but still think we got some good ones.  Gabe and I were actually glad he was awake since he has such adorable blue eyes.  He ate probably 10 ounces in 3 hours and peed all over my shirt while we were there.  When I say all over, I mean all over.  I just said he ate 10 ounces of milk in 3 hours!  I truly think all 10 ounces ended up on the front side of me...isn't that what moms are for???  Not only do I have to keep spare clothes for the little guy, but in my overstuffed baby bag, I will now include an extra shirt for Gabe and myself for instances like today.  I can't wait to see what Cherie sends us.  We will go back in 2 months to get more pics done.

Thanks Cherie for all your patience with Baby Brody today.

Heart Murmur?

We woke up early to go to the pedi heart specialist to get Brody's heart all checked out.  After an EKG and a 30 minute heart sonogram, the result is that this is probably an innocent murmur and will be continued to be watched until he is a year old.  The blood vessels are extra small in his tiny heart and the way the blood is flowing through one of them is making a "swooshing" sound.  Babies typically grow out of this as they get bigger, so do the blood vessels.  If we still hear this "swooshing" sound at a year, we will do further testing.  As of now, nothing to worry about and nothing to check into further.  They did weigh and measure him at the visit today and he weighed 9 pounds 4 ounces (after being converted from kg), which I am not so sure is accurate.  When Gabe brought him back to the room, his diaper was wet and pretty heavy.  I am thinking that his weight is a little high due to the wet diaper....it would mean he gained a pound in one week!  I do believe he is gaining weight and is probably in the 9 pound range.  Maybe I am wrong and that is accurate??  He measured the same as last week 21.5 inches.
While we were at the specialist appointment, the person who did Brody's heart sonogram was a friend of mine from JH and HS!  Anyone remember Mavyn Yancey??  It was great seeing her after so many years and I knew my little guy was in good hands with Miss Mavyn.

We are heading to McKinney this evening to see the house progress and to have dinner with some great friends we haven't seen in a while.  I am looking forward to seeing what has been done after a week.

Brody is starting to grunt a little, he may be waking from his nap (which means time to eat!).  Hope you all have a fanastic Easter.

2 week appointment results

We had our 2 week check-up today and here are Mr. Brody's stats:
Weight:  8 pounds 8.5 ounces (37%tile)  gained 7.5 ounces since birth
Height:  21.5 inches (71%tile) grown 1 inch since birth

Our little man checked out nicely, except for the doctor said he heard a slight heart murmur.  Doesn't think we should be concerned since he had to "strain" to hear it, it was so faint and he did not hear it 2 weeks ago, but will have it checked out regardless.  How can you not be a little concerned with the news?  I am trying not to freak out and wait until we talk to a pediatric cardiologist before I make any assumptions.
Here is what our house looks like as of today.  They are almost done with the brick/stone...just have to finish the front part that is missing in the picture.  The walls are painted, wood floors are in (not scraped or stained though), cabinets are in, doors are in and painted, stained concrete just needs to be sealed...We cannot believe how fast this is all happening.  I am thinking it is a good thing that we are far enough away from the house so we don't drive by on a daily basis.  Every time we get out that way, it seems like so much more is done.  We are extremely impressed with the quality of work Darling has done so far.  Gabe and I are really looking forward to moving into our new home come June!

Gabe's dad is flying in from LA this weekend to meet our little prince. We have not seen him since our trip out to Chicago in September. Looking forward to a family-filled weekend!

A great lunch date

I met some wonderful friends for lunch on Wednesday who I do not get to see as often as I would like.  We went to this cute little place in Richardson called, the Chocolate Angel Tea Room which was delicious!  I was able to introduce my new love to these friends who have been anxiously awaiting his arrival.  It was so great to catch up with them and see their smiling faces.  I always leave our meetings so happy since they bring such joy to my life.  They were so sweet to buy Baby Brody 2 new adorable outfits!  Brody, Gabe and I really appreciate your thoughtfulness!  Hope to see each of you again soon!

Miss yall!
